Our Vision

“Human Rights: Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day” is more than a statement for PIHRO — it is the guiding principle that shapes every aspect of our work. Our vision emphasizes “everyone” because no individual should be excluded or left behind; “everywhere” because human rights must be upheld in every home, community, and institution, from the most urbanized cities to the most remote rural areas; and “every day” because these rights are not seasonal privileges but daily realities that must be actively protected and promoted.

We envision a Pakistan and a world where every person, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, or geographic location, enjoys the full spectrum of rights and freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and reinforced by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This includes civil and political rights, economic and social rights, and cultural rights, all of which are essential to building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies.

Our vision is rooted in the belief that human rights are universal, indivisible, inalienable, and interdependent. They are not privileges to be granted selectively, but inherent entitlements that belong to every individual by virtue of being human.

This vision directly aligns with all SDGs, recognizing that sustainable peace and development can only exist when human rights are respected and justice is accessible to all, as rights in one area reinforce progress in others.

In practical terms, our vision means working tirelessly to ensure that:

  • Human rights values become part of everyday life, language, and decision-making.
  • Communities are empowered to defend their rights and fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Institutions are accountable, transparent, and responsive to the people they serve.
  • Equality, dignity, and justice are embedded in the social, political, and economic fabric of the nation.

Through this vision, PIHRO commits itself to fostering a culture where human rights are not merely aspirational ideals, but lived realities for all — today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.

Mission

PIHRO’s mission is to lead the promotion, protection, and realization of human rights for all, ensuring that these rights are not abstract principles but lived realities embedded in the social, political, economic, and cultural fabric of Pakistan. We strive to create a society in which human rights values are universally understood, respected, and integrated into everyday life, consistent with the vision and commitments of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
