PIHRO’s poverty alleviation initiatives are closely tied to SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). We believe that poverty reduction requires both direct livelihood support and systemic capacity building, particularly among marginalized groups such as women, rural youth, and low-income families.

Women’s Economic Empowerment

Launched campaigns to encourage women’s participation in the economic sector, challenging cultural barriers and promoting gender equality in employment and entrepreneurship.

Established provisional skill training centers for women on a self-help basis, offering courses in tailoring, handicrafts, and home-based business development. These centers provided both vocational skills and market linkages.

Distributed sewing machines to low-income women and men, enabling them to generate sustainable income from tailoring and garment-making businesses.

Male Livelihood Development

Organized skill development workshops for men in the agriculture sector, focusing on modern farming techniques, crop diversification, and sustainable resource use. These programs enhanced productivity and reduced dependency on traditional subsistence farming.

Business and Entrepreneurship Support

Hosted business promotion workshops to train participants in financial literacy, marketing strategies, and entrepreneurship fundamentals. These initiatives targeted both urban micro-entrepreneurs and rural small business owners, enabling them to expand their operations and improve profitability.
